How do I create custom barcode URLs for access to individual databases?
You can create a custom barcode authentication URL within the ProQuest Administrator Module to database(s) or subject(s), allowing users access to ProQuest through customized settings.
First you will need to create the custom URL following the directions located here. For this example ABI/INFORM Complete is used. The URL is as follows: http://0-search.proquest.com.library.cairn.edu/abicomplete?accountid=xxxxx.
The next step is to create your barcode access URL following the directions located here. The system generated barcode login URL for this example is: http://0-search.proquest.com.library.cairn.edu/barcode?accountid=xxxxxx&groupid=1002387.
Now that you have created both the custom URL and the barcode URL you will need to combine the two URLs into a single URL.
Start by copying the beginning of the;custom URL until you reach the end of the database name. http://0-search.proquest.com.library.cairn.edu/abicomplete
Add a forward slash "/" to the end of this URL. http://0-search.proquest.com.library.cairn.edu/abicomplete/
Now copy the second half of the barcode URL starting with the word barcode and add this to your existing URL. http://0-search.proquest.com.library.cairn.edu/abicomplete/barcode?accountid=xxxxx&groupid=1002387
The finished URL will take you to ABI/INFORM Complete with barcode authentication.
