- Authenticated users’ sessions are based on username or user ID, so multiple visits from one user would count as one unique user
- If a user is a guest or an anonymous user, they would count as a different unique user every time they visit the site
- If a user starts as a guest or an anonymous user and then authenticates, we count the user by their user ID so the initial anonymous session wouldn’t count toward the unique user total
NOTE-The total unique users in the exported Title Report can differ from the total unique users in the summary window. The number of unique users in the summary window totals the access to any ebook during the requested time range. For each line on the exported report, it is the total number of unique users to access that specific ebook without taking into account that same user may have accessed other titles. For example, it's possible for the same user to be counted multiple times in the line-by-line Title Report, but only counted once in the summary. The same user could have accessed 5 different titles in the line-by-line report but is only counted as 1 unique user in the summary.
