• When a librarian approves a mediated request for an STL (short-term loan), the loan period does not start until the patron clicks on the ebook link in the email sent for the approval notification.
  • When a mediated ebook purchase request for a 1-user, 3-user, or UA (unlimited access) title is approved by a librarian, the ebook loan period does not start until the user clicks on the link in the notification email and then downloads the title.
  • When a mediated ebook purchase request for an NL (non-linear) title is approved by a librarian, the ebook loan period doesn't start until the user clicks on the link in the notification email and reads the ebook for more than five minutes in the online reader or downloads the title.
    • Please note that for approved purchase requests, it is possible for another user to checkout the ebook before the original requester is able to check it out. This would generally only be a possible occurrence for a 1-user or 3-user copy. As soon as a librarian approves a purchase request that owned ebook becomes available on the Ebook Central site for any user to check out. The approval notification email is sent to the requester right away, but if the user fails to click on the link in the email and then download the ebook in a timely manner it is possible the ebook could be in use by the time the user gets to it. This would generally only be a possible occurrence with a 1-user copy since it is a limited user copy.
