What’s Changing?
On October 3rd ProQuest’s PolicyFile database will move to the powerful, newly-enhanced ProQuest platform under the new name of Policy File Index. With its clean interface and responsive design, the ProQuest platform delivers a modern research experience that guides users' discovery, access and management of rich, diverse content sources. Policy File Index will be more discoverable as users will be able to cross-search its content along with scholarly journals, news and other relevant sources. It will continue to be available as a separate database but will also be included in ProQuest’s Politics Collection and Social Science Premium Collection.
What this means for your users:
- Consolidating on the ProQuest platform simplifies the user experience and allows easy cross‐searching with related subscriptions on the ProQuest
- Advanced search will continue to include specialized search options available for Policy File Index, such as organization type and political leaning
- Filters refine results eliminating the need to conduct a new search
- My Research helps to quickly compile and manage detailed searches
- Organizations can still be browsed by type and political leaning, with records for each organization
- Durable URLs for documents in Policy File Index will be redirected to the corresponding document on the ProQuest platform
- MyArchive accounts will not be copied across. Users with MyArchive accounts who want to preserve these on the ProQuest platform will need to recreate them using My Research
What this means for you
- Easy access to usage statistics will now be available via the ProQuest Administrator Module:
- If you have other products on the ProQuest platform, Policy File Index will automatically appear on your list of databases to pull usage reports on.
- For the customers who do not have an existing ProQuest Administrator Module account, we will contact you
- Existing usage stats will not be migrated across to the PAM. Legacy site usage stats will be available for an extended period after the site is turned off. A specific date will be given closer to the time.
- For information on how you can use PAM for usage stats and MARC records, click here.
- Discovery services: Data for the new “Policy File Index” product on the ProQuest platform will be loaded to the Ex Libris PRIMO and SUMMON discovery services as soon as possible after product launch. Existing queries of the legacy “PolicyFile” site via these discovery services will continue to be supported during this transitional period.
Key dates:
- Policy File Index will go live on ProQuest platform on October 3rd
- It will remain live on the legacy platform until December
