If full downloading with Adobe Digital Editions leads to errors such as “Error getting license – Server communication problem”, the following troubleshooting steps might resolve the problem:
– Deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions
- Go to the library view in Adobe Digital Editions
- Type control-shift-d
– Un-install Adobe Digital Editions
– Download and re-install Adobe Digital Editions
- Perhaps try using a different browser
– Reauthorize Adobe Digital Editions
- Go to the library view in Adobe Digital Editions
- Under the Help menu, select the authorization entry
Then before trying to full-download the same book again:
- Go to your computer’s “My Digital Editions” folder
- Delete the .acsm file for the previously downloaded book (or delete all the .acsm files to clear out all the previously downloaded books)
- Empty the trash to really delete it
- Clear the browser cache and cookies for the browser you are opening Ebook Central and Adobe Digital Editions in, or open them in a fresh (different) browser.
Important note! Notes made in downloaded files are not retained after the download expires or is returned.
- Adobe Digital Editions treats each download of the same book (once expired) as a brand-new download, completely separate from any previous downloads of that book.
